Sugar is possible the most important ingredient in a jelly bean factory jelly bean. It’s what makes the sweets, sweet. It’s the sugar in jelly beans that makes us happy, this is because sugar release something called dopamine.

What Is Dopamine?

Dopamine is a neurotransmitter, it’s also known as a chemical transmitter. Dopamine is produced in the brain and is used by your nervous system to transmit messages between nerve cells. It’s sometimes called a happy hormone along with other chemical releases, like serotonin and endorphins.

Our bodies release and use of dopamine are incredibly important to us humans. Our body uses it for a lot of reasons, including to feel pleasure. Dopamine and the feeling of pleasure are released to us as a reward.

It is released when we do something our body wants or needs us to do. That’s why you can get dopamine from simple tasks like sleeping, eating or exercise. Our bodies need sugar to function properly and so you receive a little bit of dopamine for every bit of sugar, or delicious jelly bean, that you consume.

Our bodies crave dopamine and we are always, subconsciously, seeking it out. That’s why when you have one tasty gourmet jelly bean, you’ll find you can’t have just one.

Always munch our sweet little treats responsibly. If you can’t be trusted not to eat a whole jar of jelly beans in one go, then make sure you have a friend on hand to help you eat them and share the dopamine hit with you.
