We understand you love sharing our amazing vibrant flavourful beans as much as you love eating them yourself and it’s only natural that you would want to share them with as many friends as you can, human or otherwise.
Unfortunately, not everyone can eat jelly beans and it’s important that you know who can and can’t eat jelly beans and what you can do if these beans accidentally end up in the wrong hands… or tummy.
Can Pets Eat Jelly Beans?
Unfortunately, pets can’t eat jelly beans. Pets, especially animals like cats and dogs, have very sensitive stomachs and can’t handle sweets that are high in sugar like we humans can.
Jelly beans have a lot of ingredients in them to give them their signature gooey chewy jelly centre coated with a sweet crunchy shiny shell. Some of these ingredients can be harmful to pets so it’s important that you make sure they don’t accidentally eat them.
Although we use only the best all-natural ingredients in our gourmet jelly beans, we sometimes still have to use some extra additives and preservatives to keep our jelly beans fresh and flavourful for longer. These additives are designed to be safe for humans but aren’t safe for pets to eat and sometimes eating these additives can make them very sick.
What Should I Do If My Pet Eats Jelly Beans?
Always keep sugary sweets and snacks out of the way where pets can’t reach them. Thankfully some of our products, like our jars of jelly beans, come with re-sealable lids so the jelly beans will be harder for the pets to get to. Still, you should always err on the side of caution and keep the jelly beans somewhere you know your pet can’t get to.
If you discover that your pets have been eating jelly beans the most important thing is not to panic. If your pets have only had one or two jelly beans then they will probably be ok as it takes a large number of beans to start to do any real damage.
If your pet has only had a few jelly beans then they will probably be fine and there is no need to call a vet right away. Be sure to keep an eye on your pet for the next few days just to make sure there aren’t any issues. You know your pet and if you notice anything unusual or think they might be ill, then you should call a vet.
If you are worried your pet has eaten a large number of jelly beans then you should call a vet immediately. When you take your pet to the vet it’s always a good idea to take the label from the jelly beans with you. This way the vet can read the ingredients list and it will be easier for them to diagnose your pet.
Who Can Eat Jelly Beans?
Sadly, our pets can’t enjoy our delicious jelly beans but there are still plenty of people who can! We have tried to make our jelly beans as inclusive as we can so that as many people as possible can eat our tasty gourmet jelly beans.
That’s why we use an innovative starch based gelatine in our jelly beans. By eliminating the use of substances like gelatine pork products and wheat, we can safely say that all of our products are vegetarian, gluten-free, halal and kosher!
They are also free from all 14 EU Allergens (Gluten, Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Celery, Mustard, Eggs, Milk, Sesame, Fish, Crustaceans, Molluscs, Soya, Sulphite and Lupin) and contain no harmful chemicals or unnecessary E-numbers.
Unfortunately, our gourmet jelly beans are not suitable for vegans. We use something called shellac, which is extracted from beetles and beeswax which is produced by bees. We try to extract these products in the safest way possible but we cannot confirm the insects would not be hurt in the process. For that reason our jelly beans are not classed as vegan.
